Senior Section (Aged 15-18)

The Boys' Brigade The Boys' Brigade

Seniors is for young people aged between 15 and 18.

Seniors take part in the Challenge Plus programme, which is made up of Projects and Challenges as follows ...


These include taster sessions that act as an introduction to a topic and are then followed by a longer project that is designed and led by the young people.
Projects are grouped into 3 programme zones . . .

  • Community
  • Life Skills
  • Recreation & Leisur


These are focussed on activities that could be completed by the group or as an individual ranging from 'Climb a Munro' to 'Review a local takeaway'.
There are also opportunities to work towards . . .

It's all about learning new skills, making your own decisions and having fun. BB provides a safe environment to explore new possibilities and achieve personal goals while making friends and having adventures. And it's up to each young person to work out which opportunities are relevant for them, whether it's sport's officiating, fundraising or DIY.
Every young person should also expect . . .

  • To have the opportunity to develop a personal Christian faith

Senior Section Events

Table Tennis
A very successful table tennis competition took place in September. There were 29 boys at the event made up of 15 Junior and 14 Senior entrants.

The winning Companies were :-
Junior Singles
Winner    -    29th     Runner Up  - 35th.
Senior Singles
Winner    -  47th         Runner Up  -   68th.
Junior Doubles
Winners    -    1st Ellon    Runners Up   -  35th
Senior Doubles
Winner    -    47th       Runners Up    -   1st Ellon 

Unfortunately due to lack of interest this event had to be cancelled.

This competition took place on Sunday 12th December 2010. It was a good competition with a reasonable turnout of 7 teams. Winners were Junior : 47th A  Senior : 1st Portlethen.

This competition took place on Monday 13th December 2010. It was the best bowling competition held to date. A total of 32 junior & 11 senior bowlers took part. It was a clean sweep for 1st Portlethen winning Junior, Senior & Team competitions.

A successful Seniors football event took place at Strikers in December with 12 participants.

Transitions Event
Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances with the organiser this event was cancelled.

High Jump
There were 5 Companies competing in the high jump competition hosted by the 3rd Company. The Junior competition was won by the 3rd with the Seniors being won by a combined team from the 41st & 35th Companies.

Guitar Hero
This was a new event for the Battalion and wasn’t as well supported as we had hoped. Ten boys competed, each playing the same 5 songs to determine the winner. The winning Company was the 44th.

5-a-side Football
This was a popular competition with 9 Companies taking part in a tournament style event at Aberdeen Sports Village. It was a well contested competition but the Intermediate was very close being decided on goal difference.

The winners were :
Junior : 1st Skene
Intermediate : 47th Aberdeen
Senior : 1st Portlethen.
